Local politicians say Kashmiri voters rejected BJP’s hate politics

Srinagar: Tariq Hameed Karra, former Lok Sabha member and chief of Congress IIOJK chapter, has said that the people of Kashmir have spoken loud and clear, rejecting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) hate politics in the recent assembly elections.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Karra, who won the Central Shalteng Constituency seat with 14,395 votes, in a media interview in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir are aware of the atrocities committed by the BJP in the past five years and have voted against them.

Senior CPI-M leader M Y Tarigami echoed similar sentiments, saying “the writing is on the wall” for the BJP, indicating that the people’s vote is against the Modi government and its policies. Tarigami attributed the people’s decision to the bureaucratic and Lieutenant Governor rule in IIOJK since 2018, which has increased difficulties for the people.
