BJP govt should return waqf properties to rightful owners: AIUDF
New Delhi: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has said that the BJP government should return Waqf properties to their rightful owners in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a prominent political figure of Assam and President of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, addressing a meeting in Assam said the BJP government is obstructing the return of Waqf properties to their rightful owners as the lands belong to their forefathers.
Around 9.7 lakh acres of government land in India are actually Waqf properties, Maulana Badruddin said. He demanded that all the usurped land should be returned to the respective Waqf Boards.
Maulana Badruddin stressed that the properties, originally belonging to their forefathers who donated them for community welfare, must be handed back to the Waqf.
He stressed that these lands had deep historical and religious significance and should remain under Waqf control.
Criticising the BJP government, the AIUDF chief said prominent landmarks, including Ambani’s house in Mumbai and even the Parliament building in New Delhi, sit on Waqf land and should be returned to their rightful owners.
He also expressed concern over the functioning of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) tasked with the issue and said it is not working effectively.
