Kashmiris to observe Black Day on October 27 against Indian occupation

Posters in IIOJK: ‘Kashmiris will not rest until freedom is achieved’

Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the world over will observe the 27th October, (Sunday) as Black Day to convey to the world that India has occupied their motherland illegally and against their aspirations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, it was on 27th October in 1947 when Indian troops in total violation of the spirit of the Partition Plan of the Subcontinent had militarily invaded Jammu and Kashmir and illegally occupied it against the will of the Kashmiri people.

The day will be marked by a complete shutdown by the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Protest marches, rallies and seminars will be held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan and all over the world to condemn the invasion of the territory by Indian Army on 27th October, 1947 as well as revocation of special status of IIOJK by the Hindutva BJP Indian government on August 5, 2019.

Call for the observance of the shutdown and Black Day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by other organizations.

The APHC leaders, have called upon the Kashmiris to demonstrate to the world, on Sunday, that they would not rest till Jammu and Kashmir was to get freedom from Indian slavery.

They urged the global community to come forward for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute and take notice of the gross human rights violations and political injustice facing people of the occupied territory and take practical steps to force New Delhi to grant the Kashmiris their right to self-determination as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

On other hand, posters also appeared in Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Islamabad, Kulgam, Kupwara and other parts of IIOJK, urging people to observe a shutdown, on Sunday, against the illegal occupation of their motherland by India.

The posters feature pictures of top Hurriyet leaders, including jailed APHC chairman Masarrat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mushtaq ul Islam. They convey a powerful message: India’s attempts to intimidate the leadership will not succeed in achieving its ulterior motives. The slogans boldly state, “Even on the gallows, we will declare that Kashmir is a dispute,” emphasizing that the people of IIOJK, along with their leadership, will steadfastly resist any efforts to compromise their quest for freedom.

The posters, displayed by APHC and other organizations, described the 27th October 1947 as the darkest chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The posters have also been shared on social media platforms including X, Facebook and WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir National Front has declared October 27 the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, condemning the Indian Army’s assault on that day in 1947 as a brutal act that plunged the territory into instability and a cycle of violence. In a statement, spokesperson Muhammad Haseeb Wani remarked that this date marks when India’s so-called secular leaders covertly deployed troops in Srinagar, trampling the political and democratic rights of the Kashmiri people, for which they themselves had fought against the British for years.
