Vigilante violence claims another innocent life, lab test debunks beef allegations

Gurugram, Haryana: Another devastating incident of mob violence has come to light in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district, where a Muslim youth, Shabbir Khan, was brutally lynched by cow vigilantes.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the vigilantes suspected Shabbir of consuming beef, but a recent lab report has revealed that the meat samples collected from the scene were not beef.

The attack occurred in Badhra town, where Shabbir, a 26-year-old waste-picker from West Bengal, resided. He was assaulted by a mob, and another individual, Asiruddin, was also injured. DSP Bharat Bhushan confirmed that 10 suspects have been arrested, and the police are seeking others involved.

This incident highlights the intense hostility faced by Muslim families in India, who are often viewed with suspicion for consuming non-vegetarian food. Shabbir’s family has shared that they consume meat as part of their cultural practice, unrelated to beef.

The case has sparked outrage on social media, with prominent figures condemning the attack. Experts have clarified that the accusations against Shabbir were unwarranted, marking a concerning trend in the misuse of “cow protection” laws to target marginalized groups.
