BJP’s policies have plunged IIOJK into economic turmoil: Farooq Abdullah
Jammu: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, has highlighted the severe hardships faced by the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) over the past decade, emphasizing that the decisions made on August 5, 2019, have adversely affected not only those in the Valley but also the residents of Jammu.
Speaking to public delegations in Jammu, Farooq Abdullah criticized the BJP for its role in driving IIOJK into economic and financial turmoil. He pointed out that the saffron party has engaged in divisive politics based on religion, especially in the lead-up to elections, successfully misleading many in Jammu.
The NC president asserted that tackling the pressing issues faced by the public should be the foremost priority of the newly elected government in the territory. He stressed the urgent need to counter the harmful efforts that have deepened divisions among the people of the two regions – Valley and Jammu. To foster unity, he called for concrete measures, such as the restoration of the Darbar Move, which would facilitate greater interaction and cooperation between the different regions of the occupied territory.
Farooq Abdullah also noted that the challenges faced by the population of IIOJK in recent years have significantly impacted Jammu as well. Residents are struggling with soaring inflation, economic decline, and record levels of unemployment. He particularly highlighted the plight of the youth, who are caught in a cycle of despair, grappling with mental health issues and the pervasive threat of substance abuse.
