BJP has robbed Kashmiris of their rights: Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar: President National Conference Farooq Abdullah has said the BJP-led Indian government used its majority in Parliament and unlawfully abrogated Articles 370 and 35A, which gave special status to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to various delegations in Srinagar, Farooq Abdullah said that people of Kashmir were given special rights to land and employment but BJP stripped Kashmiris of these rights.
Referring to the illegal actions of August 5, 2019, when the BJP government abrogated Kashmir’s special status, he said that New Delhi first turned IIOJK into a prison, revoked its special status, and then took everything from the people of the territory. He pointed out that several legal experts in India had raised their voice against these illegal actions, calling them unconstitutional and undemocratic.
The NC president also criticized the BJP’s hard-line policies, harassment and illegal detention of Kashmiris, but emphasized that the people of IIOJK remain resolute and united in their resistance. He remarked that Kashmiris reject the decisions made on August 5, 2019, which were imposed against their will and aspirations.
Farooq Abdullah also hailed the people of Ladakh for raising their voices and protesting against the illegal abrogation of special status of IIOJK.
Farooq Abdullah further said that despite the BJP’s efforts to manipulate elections through the delimitation commission, the use of proxy candidates, and other tactics, the Hindutva party failed to achieve its nefarious designs in IIOJK.
