Delhi ranks second among India’s most polluted cities

New Delhi: Air quality of India’s capital Delhi has further deteriorated, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 441, making it the second-most polluted city in India, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Bahadurgarh in Haryana recorded the highest AQI of 445, followed by Delhi (441), Bhiwani in Haryana (415), and Bikaner in Rajasthan (404). An AQI above 400 falls in the “severe” category, posing health risks to all, particularly those with existing health conditions.

The GRAP Stage 3 restrictions, which include bans on construction and demolition activities, have been implemented in Delhi-NCR. Vehicular emissions contributed 15.8% to pollution levels, while stubble burning accounted for 25% of Delhi’s pollution on Saturday.

PM2.5, the primary pollutant, poses significant health risks as its fine particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and bloodstream.
