Mobile internet ban extended in seven Manipur districts

Imphal: The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet and data services in seven districts for an additional two days.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the ban, which will remain in effect until 5:15 pm on November 25, applies to both valley and hill districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, and Churachandpur.

Officials from the Home Department confirmed that the extension was issued despite no recent incidents being reported in these areas. The measure aims to maintain peace and prevent any potential unrest.

Separately, Manipur police arrested two more individuals in connection with the November 16 vandalism and arson at legislators’ residences in the Imphal Valley. This brings the total number of arrests for the incidents to 34, according to a senior police officer.

The arrests and extended internet ban reflect ongoing efforts by authorities to stabilize the situation in the region and prevent further disruptions.
