DFP condemns fresh arrest spree of youths in IIOJK
Srinagar: The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), led by incarcerated senior Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has strongly condemned the recent arrest spree of Kashmiri youths by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, terming it as part of the government’s policy to stifle every form of dissent in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal, said that dozens of youths were arrested and Indian forces have unleashed a reign of terror across IIOJK.
Referring to the intensified military operations, nocturnal raids, harassment and arbitrary arrests of innocent civilians, Iqbal stated that Indian trigger-happy forces have been employing violent tactics to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle.
He added that such oppressive tactics will not deter Kashmiris from pursuing their collective cause.
He expressed serious concern over the continued detention of party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiri political prisoners, who have been languishing in far-off jails across different Indian states.
The spokesman sought the immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri prisoners and urged the international community to pressurize India to release all detainees and resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute, which has been the root cause of bloodshed and violence in the region.
