APHC pays homage to Sopore martyrs

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has paid glowing tributes to the victims of the Sopore massacre on the 32nd anniversary of the tragedy.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyat leaders, including Mohammad Khan Sopori, Saleem Zargar, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Junaidul Islam, Imtiyaz Rishi, Maulana Musaib Nadvi and others in their separate statements in Srinagar, said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go in vain. They urged the world community to investigate all the massacres carried out by Indian forces in the territory over the past 36 years.

Several Hurriyat activists also visited the Mazar-e-Shuhada in Sopore town and paid tributes to the martyrs.

Meanwhile, a prayer meeting was held at the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) office, presided by Convenor Ghulam Mohammad Sufi to pay tribute to the martyrs of Sopore.

Addressing the gathering, Convenor Ghulam Mohammad Sufi paid homage to the martyrs of Sopore and all Kashmiri martyrs, stating that the Kashmiri nation will never forget its martyrs. He further mentioned that January 6, 1993, is a tragic and sorrowful day in the history of occupied Kashmir, when Indian forces carried out a brutal massacre in Sopore, opening fire on unarmed civilians. A total of 57 people were martyred, and many others were injured. Some were even burned alive, and after the massacre, several areas of the town were set on fire.
