Five dead, two injured in Kargil road accident
Kargil: Five people were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident in the Kargil district of Ladakh region in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the accident occurred when a passenger vehicle traveling from Kargil to Drass collided with a dumper near the Shilikchay Traffic Control Point (TCP). The force of the collision caused both vehicles to plunge into a deep gorge, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Hassan, son of Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Stakpa; Liyaqat Ali, son of AK Raza, a resident of Choskore; and Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Haji Muhammad, a resident of Budgam. The identities of the other two victims, believed to be non-locals, have yet to be confirmed.
Locals rushed to the scene to assist and transported the injured to the hospital. The condition of the injured is reported to be critical. Officials stated that a rescue operation is ongoing in the area, and further details are awaited.
