Senate unanimously passes resolution expressing solidarity with Kashmiris

Islamabad: A resolution expressing solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was unanimously passed in the Senate, Pakistan’s upper house of Parliament.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the resolution, presented by Senator Dinesh Kumar, supports the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and their fundamental rights. The resolution emphasizes the need for the resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions.

The resolution also called for the abolition of draconian laws imposed in IIOJK. The unanimous approval of the resolution in the Senate reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to standing with the Kashmiri people and supporting their rights. It further stated that the longstanding Kashmir issue is a crucial political and human rights matter in South Asia, urging the international community to maintain its focus on this issue.
