BJP-led JPC slammed for rejecting amendments to Waqf Amendment Bill

Jammu: Socio-political activists in Jammu, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, have strongly criticized the BJP-led Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for rejecting all 44 amendments proposed by the opposition members of parliament to the Waqf Amendment Bill.

According to Kashmir Media Service they described the move as “a war against Indian Muslims” and said the JPC is adopting an “undemocratic and dictatorial approach.”

The speakers said the BJP-RSS are altering the fundamental structure of the Constitution by weakening the Waqf Board. “This move is part of a larger agenda against India’s 20 crore Muslims,” they warned, further saying the ruling party is using religious politics for electoral gains.

Several socio-political activists and religious scholars have strongly condemned the BJP headed joint parliamentary committee on Waqf Amendment Bill for not considering even a single amendment suggested by the fifteen opposition MPs by adopting a dictatorial and undemocratic procedure.

Addressing a joint press conference under the banner of United Peace Alliance (UPA) they said that the purpose of amending Waqf Amendment Bill was only to snatch away the land and properties of the Muslim community across India which they have devoted in the name of Allah.

They said today Muslims in India are being discriminated against in all spheres of life making them live as 2nd class citizens in their own country. They said all 44 amendments suggested by the opposition members of the JPC were out rightly rejected which defeats the purpose of formation of the JPC itself. They said BJP is running an anti Muslims agenda for vote bank politics.
