Sinha’s budget session address marred by protest against extrajudicial killings

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s budget session address at the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was disrupted on Monday by MLA Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad against the extrajudicial killings of civilians by Indian troops in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Khursheed carried placards demanding justice for the families of two men who were extra-judicially killed in Baramulla and Kathua by Indian forces last month. The protest was a response to what he termed as an “unaddressed tragedy,” drawing attention to the deaths that occurred in these two districts.

As Lieutenant Governor Sinha started his address at the floor of the assembly, Khursheed raised his placards and vocally protested, calling for accountability of the troops involved in the deaths of the civilians. His actions led to a disruption for quite some time in the proceedings of the House.

On this, he was sent out of the hall. Khursheed’s protest sparked further discussion on the extrajudicial deaths in Baramulla and Kathua.
