IIOJK’s staggering unemployment exposes Modi regime’s hollow claims
Jammu: The official acknowledgment of nearly four hundred thousand registered unemployed youth has exposed the Modi-led Indian regime’s hollow claims of progress and development in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, as of January 2025, over 3.70 lakh unemployed youth have been registered on the employment portal. However, the actual number is much higher, as the overwhelming majority of Kashmiris, especially the youth, refuse to work as Indian government employees due to the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Analysts see this initiative as a mere ploy to lure Kashmiri youth, who remain steadfast in their commitment to the UN-recognized right to self-determination.
Government data reveals that from 2022-23 to February 2025, 1,36,200 job seekers registered for 246 job recruitment tests. In 2022-23 alone, 45,447 job seekers signed up for 84 job fairs, while in the following year, 72,175 participated in 106 job fairs. For the ongoing fiscal year 2024-25, 18,578 job seekers have registered for 56 job fairs.
However, only a few hundred jobs have been provided through these recruitment drives, which critics argue are mere publicity stunts designed to mislead the local population—particularly the youth, who remain steadfast in their support for the freedom of their motherland.
“As of January 2025, 3,70,811 unemployed youth have been registered on the portal,” said MLA Sham Lal Sharma, the minister in charge, in response to a question.
