Jaffer Express attack reflects ongoing Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan: Army

Islamabad: The Pakistan Army has said that India is the main sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan, and the recent attack on the Jaffer Express in Balochistan is a continuation of this ongoing pattern of violence.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a media briefing in Islamabad today, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that the terrorists had used both Indian and Afghan weapons in the recent incident and previous attacks. Lt Gen Chaudhry was joined at the presser by Balochistan Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti.
He said, “The latest attack in Balochistan and other terrorist incidents that took place in the past…we understand that the main sponsor of these [attacks] is your eastern neighbor.”
DG ISPR then criticised the Indian media for spreading propaganda about the incident.
“The Indian media displayed fake footage of the incident to spread propaganda,” he said, as he showed some video clips on a screen to prove his point.
“They attempted to create a narrative by sharing AI-generated images and fake videos. They were leading an informational warfare.”
The DG ISPR said a “nexus” was working amid the situation to give legitimacy to the terrorists and their narrative.
Showing various clips of Indian officials and personalities discussing efforts to destabilise Balochistan, the DG ISPR said the Jaffar Express attack was a “continuation of the same policy”.
Notably, the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), during Tuesday’s attack on the Jaffar Express, blew up train tracks and held over 440 passengers hostage in a day-long standoff with security services in a remote mountain pass in Bolan district. The Pakistan military, after clearing the train and rescuing hostages, said it killed 33 attackers. Before the operation began, terrorists had martyred 26 passengers, while four security personnel were martyred during the operation. In today’s presser, Lt Gen Chaudhry confirmed that three FC soldiers embraced martyrdom when the terrorists attacked Frontier Corps picket before the train was ambushed.
