Modi regime grilled for creating jingoism in name of mock drills in IIOJK
Srinagar: Indian armed forces on Tuesday carried out large-scale mock drills in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the exercises are aimed at enhancing readiness and improving response capabilities. However, these military activities have drawn criticism for creating a jingoistic atmosphere and instilling fear among the civilian population.
According to Kashmir Media Service, local residents and human rights observers argue that such operations, rather than ensuring safety, contribute to a climate of intimidation and further militarize a region already reeling under heavy security presence. These mock drills involve troop mobilizations, armored vehicles, and aerial surveillance, sparking panic and disrupting daily life.
Critics say this strategy not only escalates tensions in the disputed territory but also serves to legitimize the ongoing militarization under the guise of security. The territory has long been a flashpoint between India and Pakistan. Military actions—whether real or simulated—tend to heighten regional instability and attract international concern.
Alongside other forces, Indian Police on Tuesday also conducted mock drills in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam and Awantipora.
