APHC-AJK condemns ban on schools run under Falah-e-Aam Trust
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has condemned a ban on schools run under the Falah-e-Aam Trust in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in a statement issued in Islamabad termed the forcible takeover of educational institutions run under the Falah-e-Aam Trust by the occupying Indian administration as a direct attack on the educational, religious and cultural identity of the Kashmiri people.
He strongly condemned the move, saying this act is not only a serious violation of basic human rights but also a systematic conspiracy aimed at paralysing Kashmiris educationally and intellectually.
He said the schools and institutions of the Falah-e-Aam Trust have played a significant role in the promotion of education, social development and moral training in Kashmiri society for decades.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said as a result of this illegal and unconstitutional move of the occupying administration, the educational future of more than sixty thousand students has become uncertain, which is a serious violation of international laws, the UN Charter and the basic principles of human rights.
He appealed to the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), European Union and other international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the illegal move.
The APHC-AJK convener further said the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been victims of Indian oppression and tyranny for the past seven decades. The ban on educational institutions, attacks on religious and cultural heritage and measures to curtail public freedoms are proof that India is bent on erasing the identity of the Kashmiri people, he added.
He made it clear that until the Kashmiris are given their right to self-determination, lasting peace cannot be established in the region.
