Special function organized in Lahore to pay homage to Jammu Martyrs of 1947
Lahore: The Kashmir Centre in Lahore organized a special function to pay homage to the Jammu Martyrs of 1947.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of thousands of Muslims were mercilessly massacred by the forces of Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, the Indian Army, and armed Hindu extremists in various parts of Jammu region during the first week of November 1947, while they were migrating to Pakistan.
The speakers on the occasion said observing Jammu Martyrs’ Day is meant to honour and remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while migrating towards Pakistan. They said this historic tragedy remains the greatest symbol of devotion to Pakistan.
They further said the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been standing firm against India’s brutal occupation for more than a century, continuing to sacrifice their lives and properties in pursuit of freedom. Pakistan, they affirmed, will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people and will never withdraw its political, moral, and diplomatic support. “Kashmir is our jugular vein, and no nation can surrender its lifeline to the enemy,” they remarked.
The speakers said the people of Kashmir are enduring oppression only because of their love for Pakistan, but this tyranny will soon end, and a new dawn of freedom will rise. Every segment of Pakistani society remains a steadfast supporter of the Kashmiri freedom struggle, they added.
They also said whenever a Kashmiri is martyred in the occupied valley, the people wrap the martyr’s body in the national flag of Pakistan before burial — a powerful message to the world that their hearts beat with Pakistan. India’s continued repression, they said, is strengthening Kashmiri resistance, while the rising tide of Hindutva ideology is contributing to regional instability.
The function was attended and addressed by former Minister Nasir Hussain Dar, prominent Kashmiri leader and former Advisor to the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Syed Naseeb Ullah Gurdezi, APHC-AJK leader Engineer Mushtaq Mahmood, former member of the Council of Islamic Ideology Maulana Shafi Josh, central joint secretary of PTI, Azad Kashmir, Mirza Sadiq Jarral, In charge of Kashmir Centre, Lahore Inam-ul-Hasan, central joint secretary of PML-N, Azad Kashmir, Maqbool Awan, General Secretary of Kashmir Action Committee Farooq Azad, General Secretary of PML-N Azad Kashmir, Lahore Division, Bilal Butt, Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, Allama Mushtaq Qadri, Maqsood Chughtai, Qazi Anwar, Allama Khalid Mahmood, Professor Mazhar Alam, Nazar Bhindar, Naveed Malik, and Haji Ijaz.
