London conference remembers Jammu massacre victims, reaffirms support for Kashmir freedom struggle

London: Speakers at a conference in London, held to commemorate the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Jammu in November 1947, reaffirmed their resolve to continue exposing India’s atrocities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference, organized by Zafar Qureshi, Chairman of Kashmir Campaign Global and a native of Baramulla in IIOJK, took place in Luton and drew a large gathering of councillors, mayors, political leaders, and community members.

Participants reiterated their unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, vowing to pursue justice and freedom for the people of the occupied territory until India’s illegal occupation ends. They noted that New Delhi remains unwilling to resolve the decades-old Kashmir dispute.
Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs of Jammu, the speakers recalled that lacs of Muslims were brutally massacred by Dogra forces and Hindu extremists while migrating to Pakistan in 1947. They lamented that the perpetrators of this genocide were never punished, calling it one of the least acknowledged tragedies of modern times.
The speakers emphasized that exposing Indian state oppression in IIOJK is vital to advancing the Kashmir freedom movement and urged all peace-loving and justice-oriented voices in the UK and worldwide to stand united for the Kashmir cause.
Prominent participants included former Luton Mayor Muhammad Riaz Butt, Professor Mumtaz Butt, former Slough Mayor Amjad Abbasi, former Mayor Tahir Malik, Councilor Aslam Khan, former Mayor Waheed Akbar, Professor Imtiaz Chaudhry, Councilor Idrees Latif, Councilor Anwar Malik, Councilor Zahoor Ahmad, former Councillor Raja Zaffarullah Khan, and others.
