Farooq Rehmani condemns Bihar CM’s forcible hijab removal as ‘horrifying, revengeful and anti-gender’

Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, senior APHC-AJK leader and Chairman J&K People’s Freedom League, has strongly condemned the actions of Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for forcibly removing a Muslim woman doctor’s hijab, describing the act as horrifying, revengeful, fanatical, and anti-gender.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said the incident sent shockwaves throughout the Muslim world. “The CM’s behavior, along with the mocking smiles of his colleagues, was humiliating and terrifying,” he remarked. He suggested that Nitish Kumar’s actions reflect a combination of senility and perversion. Furthermore, he condemned the BJP-allied minister Sanjay Nishad, who mocked the public protest against the hijab assault, calling his remarks even more “perverted and vile.”

Rehmani also highlighted the growing pattern of anti-Muslim violence under the Modi regime, citing the recent case of a Muslim youth being publicly assaulted, undressed, and lynched to confirm his identity. He noted that similar attacks, targeting Kashmiri workers, students, and other Muslims, are becoming routine in India, with authorities deliberately downplaying such incidents.

Rehmani called the BJP regime’s actions “incriminating” and “horrifying” for Islam, urging the OIC, Arab states, and the Custodian of the Harmain Shareefain to strongly condemn the Islamophobic behavior of Indian ministers. He also called on the UN and human rights organizations to address the ridicule and threats directed at Muslim women, specifically in this case, by the Bihar CM and his deputy.

He concluded by warning that BJP leaders are turning into criminals against Muslims and jeopardizing both domestic and regional peace. He demanded the resignation of Bihar’s CM and the cabinet minister for their actions and perverted language.

In a similar statement, APHC-AJK leader Zahid Ashraf also condemned the actions of Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, describing the forced removal of a Muslim doctor’s hijab as inhuman, undemocratic, and a deeply communal act. He termed the incident as an affront to women’s rights and a clear manifestation of anti-gender bias.
