Indian forces arrest two youth in Jammu during crackdown

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces arrested two youth during a crackdown operation in Jammu district, further intensifying the campaign of repression and arbitrary detentions in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, personnel of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) 13 Battalion apprehended two youth, identified as Manzoor Hussain and Suraj, during a raid in the Satwari area of Jammu district. The arrests were carried out during a so-called security operation, with the youth reportedly taken into custody without any transparent legal grounds.
Meanwhile, Indian Army’s 27 Assam Rifles launched a cordon-and-search operation along the Sopore–Bandipora road in north Kashmir after claiming to have detected a “suspected object” in the area. The road was temporarily blocked, causing inconvenience to commuters, while residents were subjected to fear and harassment during the operation.
Rights observers say such arrests and frequent cordon-and-search operations have become routine in IIOJK, aimed at intimidating the local population and creating an atmosphere of constant surveillance and insecurity. They add that Indian forces often use vague security pretexts to justify arbitrary detentions, particularly of youth, as part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent and resistance against India’s illegal occupation.
