Activists urge global community to end Indian atrocities in Kashmir

Islamabad: Kashmiri activists hailing from different walks of life are calling for year-round solidarity, warning against “one-day activism” ahead of February 5 Kashmir Solidarity Day observances.
A virtual event organized by Kashmir Media Service and Global Kashmir TV UK emphasized the need for sustained support, with speakers highlighting persistent atrocities and denial of basic rights in the region.
Speakers stressed the importance of implementing UN resolutions as the only path to lasting peace. They emphasized that Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as enshrined in UN resolutions, must be respected and implemented. The international community must play a more effective role in resolving the dispute, they added.
Activists urged stronger follow-through on Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives and global exposure of Indian brutality. They criticized superpowers for selectively ignoring international law and urged the international community to take concrete actions to address the humanitarian crisis in Kashmir.
The disproportionate suffering of Kashmiri women, including widowhood and targeted suppression, was highlighted. Speakers urged the international community to take notice of the human rights abuses faced by Kashmiri women and take concrete actions to protect their rights.
The event aimed to amplify the Kashmiri voice and reassure Kashmiris of Pakistan’s commitment to their cause.
Speakers called for year-round media campaigns, diaspora education, and global exposure of Indian brutality to bring attention to the Kashmir issue.
Among those who participated in the event included: Speakers and Designations: Syed Manzoor Ahmed Jilani, Dr Abdul Rehman Usama, Muzzammil Ayyub, Afshan Kiani, Saima Ashraf, Haji Hafiz Waqar Yaqub and Syed Arif Bahar.
