APHC urges UNHRC to ensure release of Kashmiri political prisoners

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed deep concern over the continued arrests of freedom leaders, activists, and youth in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar called for the immediate release of all political detainees. He urged the UN Human Rights Council to intervene and ensure the safety and medical treatment of prisoners, many of whom are suffering due to inadequate facilities in Indian jails.
The APHC highlighted the plight of leaders including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahidul Islam, Fahmida Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Advocate Mia Abdul Qayoom, Bilal Siddiqi, Maulvi Basheer Irfani, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Qasim Fakhtoo, and thousands of other Kashmiris who have been imprisoned by India for decades.
“Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is bleeding,” the statement said, “and the world cannot remain a silent spectator to inhuman treatment. The people of Kashmir continue to raise their voice for their basic rights.”
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Chairman of the International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, said that hundreds of innocent Kashmiris and human rights defenders are being held in India’s notorious jails under inhuman conditions. He condemned the continued torture of political prisoners and called on global peace and human rights organizations to take notice of India’s unlawful actions. Untoo stressed that such brutal measures cannot break the spirit of the Kashmiri people, and the international community must wake up to ensure that Kashmiris are granted their fundamental rights.
