Mirwaiz-led MMU delegation meets Iranian Ambassador in Delhi, conveys condolences and solidarity

New Delhi: A high-level delegation of the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), led by its patron and senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, called on the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, in New Delhi to offer condolences over the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and to express solidarity with the people of Iran amid the ongoing aggression by Israel and the United States.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation comprised religious leaders from IIOJK, including Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Agha Syed Hadi Al-Moosvi, and Agha Syed Mujtaba. The delegation met the Iranian envoy at the embassy in the Indian capital. The MMU, an umbrella body of Islamic religious organizations in IIOJK, had earlier called for a shutdown in Kashmir on March 2 to mourn the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei.

In a statement, the MMU said the delegation conveyed heartfelt condolences over the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , along with members of his family and other leadership figures, and expressed deep solidarity with the people of Iran in this hour of grief and hardship.

“On behalf of the people of Kashmir, the delegation stated that the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the prominent and respected leader of the Muslim Ummah, has deeply saddened them,” the statement said.

The delegation also expressed serious concern and condemned the ongoing war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel, and hoped that diplomatic efforts will prevail to bring an end to this aggression, restoring peace and stability.

Highlighting the deep-rooted cultural, historical, and religious ties between Kashmir and Iran, the delegation noted that Kashmir has long been referred to as “Iran-e-Sagheer” (Little Iran), reflecting the enduring bonds between the two peoples.

The MMU reiterated that unity, steadfastness and collective prayers for peace is the need of the hour for the Ummah to face these challenges.

On the occasion, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq wrote in the condolence book: “Deeply saddened by the tragic assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Ummah has lost a towering and influential leader whose voice and presence resonated far beyond borders. The leadership and people of Jammu and Kashmir extend their heartfelt condolences and stand in firm solidarity with the people of Iran in this hour of grief and trial. May Allah grant him maghfirah and bestow strength, patience, and dignity upon his people.”
