Safi denounces serious human rights violations by India in IIOJK
says sentences given to Kashmiri women leaders miscarriage of justice

Muzaffarabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi has strongly denounced the serious human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the alleged fake cases filed against the Hurriyat leadership.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Muhammad Safi addressing a news conference in Muzaffarabad termed the decision of Indian court as contrary to the basic principles of justice and said that the sentences given to Kashmiri women leaders Asiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sufi and Nahida Nasreen are a miscarriage of justice.
He said the only crime of Aasiya Andrabi and her associates is that they raised their voice against India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir and demanded the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
He said the disputed status of the Kashmir dispute is recognized internationally and the Indian leadership has deviated from its own promises. He said an attempt is being made to hide the truth from the world by keeping the Kashmiri leadership in chains, however, the Kashmir freedom movement cannot be weakened through these tactics.
He further said passing sentences without any solid evidence is a black mark on the Indian judicial system and these decisions are a link to the controversial judicial decisions of the past. He expressed his resolve that the people of Kashmir and Pakistan will not leave these prisoners of freedom alone and their voice will be raised at every international forum.
Senior leaders Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Shaukat Javed Mir, Ghulam Hassan Butt and other speakers in their addresses said the only fault of the Kashmiri people is their demand for right to self-determination. They said India has been trying to suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people for the past several decades through oppression, extrajudicial killings and human rights violations but will never succeed in their nefarious designs.
They said it is impossible to establish lasting peace in the region without resolving the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The speakers categorically rejected the sentences given by the Indian court to Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi and Nahida Nasreen, calling it biased, political revenge and completely contrary to the requirements of justice. They said such decisions not only affect the reputation of the judicial system but also expose India’s claims to be a democratic country.
The speakers paid tribute to the courage, perseverance and sacrifices of all the prisoners of freedom, including Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi and Nahida Nasreen, and called them valuable assets of the freedom movement.
They urged the international community, the United Nations and international human rights organizations to take notice of the ongoing human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and put pressure on India to release all political prisoners and grant the Kashmiri people their birthright to self-determination.
Earlier, APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmed Shah in his opening remarks strongly condemned the verdict of the Indian court and described it murder of justice. He said sentences are decided against Kashmiris by Indian courts even before the crime is proven.
Sheikh Abdul Majid, Zahid Ashraf, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Majieed Mir, and Chairperson of the women’s wing of the Muslim Conference Samia Sajid were also present in the press conference.
