APHC pays homage to martyred leader S. Hameed Wani
Condemns illegal arrests, seizure of Jamaat-e-Islami schools

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has paid rich tributes to martyred Hurriyet leader S. Hameed Wani, who was killed by Indian troops in Srinagar on April 18, 1998.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar today, while paying homage to Shaheed Wani on his 28th martyrdom anniversary, described him as a legendary figure whose life and sacrifices continue to inspire freedom-loving people across the occupied territory.
He said that S. Hameed Wani laid down his life for the freedom of his motherland from Indian illegal rule.
The APHC strongly condemned the ongoing human rights violations by Indian forces in the occupied territory, including the arbitrary and illegal arrests of Kashmiri youth. It also denounced the Indian authorities’ decision to take over 58 schools run by the Falah-e-Aam Trust of Jamaat-e-Islami, terming it a deliberate attempt to undermine the community’s educational institutions.
Minhas expressed deep concern over the systematic suppression of dissent in the occupied territory, noting that India is targeting not only political activists but also members of civil society and human rights defenders.
The APHC urged the international community to take immediate notice and exert pressure on India to halt the killing of innocent Kashmiris and to facilitate a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
