Twin blasts in Punjab part of BJP’s “election strategy”: CM Mann
Says saffron party using violence to create fear ahead of polls

Chandigarh: Chief Minister of Indian Punjab state and Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind the twin blasts reported in Punjab within 24 hours, terming the incidents part of a pattern aimed at creating unrest ahead of the state assembly elections next year.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to the media at Anandpur Sahib in Rupanagar district, Mann said that the BJP often resorts to riots, blasts, or communal tension in states where it seeks electoral advantage. He said that these blasts indicated that the BJP was “preparing for Punjab”.

“This is the style of the BJP’s work. In whatever state they have to fight elections, they first instigate riots, cause small-scale explosions, orchestrate some infighting, and divide people on the basis of religion and caste. This means that these are the BJP’s preparations for Punjab,” he said.
Punjab witnessed two explosions in a single day, raising serious security concerns across the state. The first blast occurred in Jalandhar near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters, where an explosion involving a scooter triggered panic. Hours later, another blast was reported near the Khasa cantonment area in Amritsar, close to Indian Army and BSF installations.
Linking the incidents to what he described as BJP’s “politics of polarization”, Mann said that the BJP was attempting to destabilize Punjab through fear, division and unrest ahead of future elections.
Describing the BJP as a communal party, he said that after the West Bengal elections, the party had now shifted its political focus to Punjab.
“They themselves have said Punjab is their next target. They try to secure votes by spreading fear and creating divisions between communities,” he added.
He further said the BJP was using communal polarisation as an electoral strategy in different states.
