Hindutva leader turns Ghaziabad aid drive into anti-Muslim hate stunt

New Delhi: Hindu Raksha Dal chief Bhupendra Tomar alias Pinky Chaudhary sparked outrage after turning a food distribution drive in Ghaziabad into a communal flashpoint, declaring that Muslims would be denied aid.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a viral video shows Chaudhary snatching a food plate from a poor man in line and telling the camera: “We will not give food to Mullahs, no matter who feels bad; no Muslim should eat.” He added, “Mullah na aaye, sirf Hindu aaye” — barring Muslims from receiving food.
Chaudhary, a key accused in the August 2021 Jantar Mantar hate speech case, has a long record of anti-Muslim rhetoric. He has previously branded Muslims as “jihadis,” urged Hindus to block Muslims from buying property in Hindu-majority areas, and falsely claimed “only Hindus pay taxes.”
In February 2026, his outfit scrawled “Road Not for Muslims” across a Uttar Pradesh highway. In August 2024, he led a mob that torched homes in a Muslim settlement in Ghaziabad. Chaudhary boasts of over 38 criminal cases against him. Hindu Raksha Dal members stand accused of distributing swords, chanting anti-Muslim slogans, and targeting minorities.
Critics say the group’s actions, and the tepid legal response, are widening India’s communal fault lines, renewing calls for a crackdown on hate speech and an end to impunity for Hindutva vigilante groups.
