Student dies, 4 injured as fire guts seminary in IIOJK
Srinagar: One student was killed and four others injured after a massive fire broke out at a seminary in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the blaze erupted at around 1:30 am at Darul Aloom Baba Hydari Reshi in the Old Mattan Adda area, triggering panic among students staying in the building. Teams of Fire and Emergency Services, with help from locals, rushed to the spot and launched rescue and firefighting operations.
Several students were evacuated from the seminary, preventing further casualties, officials said. Bilal Ahamed, a 15-year-old student from the Warden area, sustained critical burn injuries and later died. Four other students were injured and shifted to a hospital. Doctors said their condition was stable.
Locals do not rule out suspicious hand as police have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.
