Modi’s 2016 attack on Suvendu Adhikari resurfaces after BJP makes him WB CM

New Delhi : An old 2016 video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi mocking Suvendu Adhikari over a bribery sting has resurfaced after Modi appointed Adhikari as West Bengal’s first BJP Chief Minister in 2026.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the video, widely shared on social media, shows Modi publicly targeting Adhikari, then a Trinamool Congress leader, over footage showing him taking money on camera. Ten years later, Modi attended Adhikari’s oath-taking ceremony as CM.
Adhikari faced corruption allegations until his defection from TMC to BJP in 2020, after which the narrative around him shifted.
The BJP’s earlier video highlighting the allegations has reportedly been removed from official platforms.
Critics on social media have dubbed the BJP a political “washing machine,” alleging that corruption charges disappear after leaders join the party.
