Activists flag “flood” of Indian military supplies to Israel, say Modi govt complicit in Israeli atrocities

New Delh: A coalition of pro-Palestine activists and solidarity groups have raised alarm over a “flood” of military supplies from India to Israel after six shipments of military-grade steel were identified on multiple vessels en route to weapons factories in Israel.

According to Kashmir Media Service, activists from the Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) movement and No Harbour for Genocide (NHB) said the shipments comprise around 806 tonnes of military-grade steel, enough to produce up to 17,458 artillery (155mm) shells for the Israeli military.

The groups said three of the shipments carried by the Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) are currently being held in Italy for inspection while two other remain at Gioia Tauro, where authorities are being pressed to inspect the cargo. Another shipment, carrying 206 tonnes of military grade steel, has reportedly been rerouted to Sri Lanka, with shippers seeking an alternative route to Israel.

“The BDS movement is calling for pressure to stop these supplies from reaching Israel and to hold the far-right Indian government and complicit Indian companies accountable for their complicity in Israel’s atrocity crimes,” said Ilham Yaseen, military embargo coordinator with the BDS movement.

No Harbour for Genocide said that all six shipments originated from R L Steels & Energy Limited, based in Aurangabad, India, and were destined for a key weapons manufacturing facility operated by IMI Systems in Ramat Hasharon, Israel. Valued at an estimated $1million, the consignments left the Indian port of Nhava Sheva, (Jawaharlal Nehru Port), located in Maharashtra, between January and March of this year.

“We are seeing now a flood of military supplies from India to Israel,” Yaseen said.

The stalled shipments in the Mediterranean, activists said, highlight India’s growing role in addressing Israeli military supply shortfalls amid the ongoing war in Gaza, despite the January 2024 International Court of Justice ruling urging states to avoid actions that could assist Israel’s military campaign.

New Delhi had already supplied Indian-made Israeli Hermes 900 drones to Israel in early 2024, and later several shipments of military equipment, including rockets. No Harbour for Genocide said recent developments showed that military shipments from India were ongoing and were fundamental for Israel to make up its shortfall of 155mm shells.

The groups further revealed that Indian company RL Steels and Energy Limited had previously sent military-grade steel in October 2025, directly to Israel’s IMI Systems, including components for artillery shells and mortar bombs.

Activists also said that shipping companies were concealing routes and destinations to evade scrutiny, saying several vessels have altered their routes or disabled tracking systems since the shipments began being monitored in February 2026.
