Indian govt’s order to demolish structures near Pakistan border reflects dangerous escalation: Analysts

New Delhi: India’s directive to demolish all structures within 15 kilometers of the border with Pakistan has drawn sharp criticism from analysts and observers, who describe the move as a dangerous escalation reflecting “total war footing” posture by New Delhi.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Al Jazeera reported that Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered the demolition of buildings along the border with Pakistan under the pretext of curbing infiltration and narcotics smuggling.

Observers, however, dismissed India’s justification as baseless and politically motivated, saying the mover appears aimed at displacing civilians and converting border areas into militarized zones for potential aggressive designs against Pakistan.

They said that clearing a 15km belt along the border amounts to a serious military provocation and reflects an attempt to transform civilian areas into a combat-ready launchpads and forward staging ground for aggression against Pakistan.

Analysts pointed out that no unusual activity has been reported on this heavily fortified militarized frontier, questioning the credibility of Indian claims regarding infiltration and smuggling.

They termed the move an extension of the BJP government’s controversial “bulldozer politics,” stating that New Delhi is now exporting its coercive domestic policies to sensitive international border regions in the guise of security theat.

Critics further said that this dangerous escalation is a calculated move by the Indian BJP regime to divert world attention from its collapsing press freedom record and its systemic, state-sanctioned persecution of religious minorities.

They also criticized India for completely bypassing established bilateral border coordination channels, warning such unilateral actions could further heighten tensions in South Asia.

“New Delhi has proven that its true objective is to manufacture a permanent state of war hysteria rather than engage in responsible diplomacy,” one analyst said.

Analysts maintained the exaggerated infiltration and smuggling claims are an absolute fiction with zero basis in reality, adding this is a staged drama engineered solely to manufacture a war environment and justify increased militarization near the Pakistani border.
