Cockroach Janta Party’s anti-Pradhan mobilisation poses challenge for Modi
CJP shifts gears as digital rage turns into Jantar Mantar street agitation

New Delhi : The emergence of the Cockroach Janta Party as a volunteer-driven movement demanding Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation has exposed growing public anger over examination irregularities, analysts said, calling it a fresh challenge for the Modi government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, CJP leaders told their first press conference in New Delhi that over 8 lakh people had signed a petition seeking Pradhan’s resignation over paper leak controversies and lack of accountability.
Positioning itself as a youth-driven platform rather than a conventional political outfit, the group stressed that “public participation, not money” was its strength.
Observers noted that the movement’s planned June 6 protest at Jantar Mantar, with founder Abhijet Dipke and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk expected to join, marks a shift from digital mobilisation to street agitation. By appealing across party lines for transparency and institutional reform, CJP has broadened its base beyond students to wider demands for accountability at the highest political level.
Analysts said the government’s handling of repeated examination controversies is now facing organized public pushback, raising questions about the Modi administration’s ability to manage youth dissent amid claims of a broken education system.
