BJP regime puts Mirwaiz under house arrest in Srinagar

Graveyards sealed, but martyrs live in our hearts: Mirwaiz

Srinagar: The Indian occupation regime led by Bharatiya Janata Party today placed senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest in Srinagar, occupied Jammu and Kashmir, to prevent him from paying homage to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, and offering Fateha for them.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest to be prevented from going to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib.

“In deep emotion and reverence, we pay our respects and glorious tributes to our first martyrs, who 95 years ago on this day, through their supreme sacrifice, laid the foundation of the people’s struggle for justice, dignity, and human rights. A struggle that continues. It is painful and unfortunate that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being prevented by force from offering Fateha and paying homage to the martyrs, as all roads leading to Mazar-e-Shuhada, Naqshband Sahib, are blocked and barricaded, and restrictions have been imposed around Jama Masjid Srinagar. I have once again been placed under house arrest,” Mirwaiz Umar Farooq wrote on X.

He added, “Graveyards may be sealed, roads blocked, and people confined, but the Martyrs live in our hearts and in our collective memory for all times. May Allah grant them and all the Shuhada of Jammu and Kashmir the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.”

Meanwhile, the APHC paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, on their martyrdom anniversary, honouring their sacrifices and contributions to the greater cause of the Kashmiri nation and the reclamation of their usurped rights.

It highlighted that July 13, 1931, marks a historic day in Kashmir’s history when these martyrs sacrificed their lives in the fight against autocratic rule and despotism. It emphasized that the memories and sacrifices of the martyrs are deeply ingrained in the hearts and minds of the Kashmiri people and will never be forgotten.

APHC leaders Fayaz Hussain Jafri and Maulana Syed Sibt Shabbir Qummi
in their separate statements in Srinagar also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, describing them as the true heroes of the Kashmiri people who laid down their lives for rights, dignity and freedom. The leaders said that the 22 martyrs who shed their blood against the tyranny of the Dogra Maharaja ignited a spark of freedom in Kashmiris that continues to illuminate the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They said the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle against Indian occupation is a continuation of the movement that began in 1931, and that the great sacrifices made against Dogra autocracy serve as a guiding light for the new generation.
