Ali Gilani’s martyrdom anniversary: APHC-AJK delegation invites scholars to attend special conference

Muzaffarabad: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter led by Shamim Shawl visited the Department of Kashmir Studies, Azad Kashmir University, where the delegation met with the Director of the Department of Kashmir Studies, Dr. Sameera Shafiq.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the purpose of the meeting was to invite them to attend a special conference to be organized on the occasion of the death anniversary of veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani, in collaboration with the Kashmir Liberation Cell.
Dr Shabnam, Dr Raja Nazakat Ali and Hurriyat leaders Syed Gulshan and Mushtaq Ahmed Butt were also present in the meeting.
On the occasion, a detailed discussion was held on the current political, humanitarian and security situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and deep concern was expressed over the human rights violations in the occupied territory.
The delegation emphasized that the Kashmir issue was not just a territorial dispute but a long-standing political issue, for whose lasting solution, the aspirations and right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people are of fundamental importance.
The Hurriyat delegation said that Syed Ali Gilani dedicated his entire life to the political, democratic and right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. His steadfastness, ideological steadfastness and principled stance are a prominent chapter in the political history of Kashmir, he added.
The delegation said despite adverse circumstances, imprisonment and continuous pressure, Syed Ali Gilani refused to give up his principled stand and kept his struggle linked to the demand for constitutional and political right to self-determination.
It extended a formal invitation to Dr. Sameera Shafiq to participate in the conference to be held on the martyrdom anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani, which she accepted and assured her full participation in the conference.
On this occasion, it was also emphasized that universities and academic institutions can play an important role in promoting serious academic and research dialogue on the historical, political, legal and human aspects of the Kashmir issue.
Later, the APHC-AJK delegation also visited the Red Foundation Girls College, where the delegation met with the principal of the college, Ms. Farkhunda. The delegation also invited her to attend the conference organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and the Kashmir Liberation Cell on the occasion of the death anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani.
The APHC-AJK delegation reiterated its resolve to continue the political, diplomatic and peaceful struggle for the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people and their fundamental rights and to make every effort to highlight the struggle and sacrifices of Syed Ali Gilani, at the national and international levels.
