APHC-AJK remembers martyrs of Sopore massacre on their anniversary
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter (APHC-AJK) has paid glowing tributes to the victims of Sopore massacre in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, over 60 civilians were martyred and more than 400 shops and other structures including residential houses were gutted on this day in 1993 after the personnel of Indian Border Security Force went on a killing spree and set the town afire.
The APHC-AJK Convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar and other leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Shaikh Abdul Mateen, Imityaz Wani, Shameem Shawl, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, and Muhammad Shafi Dar in their statements, today, expressing solidarity with the victim families of Sopore said that the blood of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste. They said that India had converted the entire occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a big prison while people are under military and police siege since August 05, 2019.
They said the Sopore massacre is a living dark tale of a country which has always perpetrated militarization and suppression under the garb of democratic façade.
The APHC-AJK leaders deplored that the Indian government had given a free hand to its forces’ personnel under draconian laws to commit atrocities on the Kashmiris with impunity. They demanded an impartial probe into all such massacred to punish the perpetrators.
