600-year-old mosque demolished in Delhi stealthily

New Delhi: A 600-year-old mosque in Delhi, India, was demolished by the Hindutva authorities without a prior notice.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation included the destruction of the historic Akhonji Masjid, housing madrassa Bahrul Uloom and sacred graves.

The mosque’s Imam, Zakir Hussain, stated that the demolition was carried out stealthily before sunrise, with debris secretly removed to hide the act. Officials, accompanied by a significant police presence, confiscated phones, denied access to copies of the Holy Qur’an, and vandalized belongings of madrassa students.

This incident is part of a broader demolition drive, sparking concerns about religious freedom, cultural heritage, and the need for transparency and accountability in such matters. The situation calls for a thorough investigation and raises questions about the protection of religious structures in the region.
