Indian forces kill four people in Maharashtra
Mumbai: Indian forces have killed four individuals in the state of Maharashtra, India, underscoring the ongoing tensions between the Indian government and separatist movements within the country.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, a Quick Action team of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with police personnel, conducted an operation in Gadchiroli along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
The police identified the deceased as high-ranking Naxal leaders DVCM Vargeesh, secretary of the Mangi Indravelli area committee; DVCM Magtu, secretary of the Sirpur Chennur area committee; and platoon members Kursang Raju and Kudimetta Venkatesh.
An Indian police official stated that multiple teams of the C-60, a specialized combat unit of the Gadchiroli police, and the CRPF’s Quick Action team were deployed for a search operation in the area.
The killing of alleged Naxal leaders highlights the persistence of strong separatist sentiments in regions like Gadchiroli, where armed resistance against state authorities is a recurrent challenge.
