Muslim student assaulted by Hindutva gang in Pune over ‘Love Jihad’ pretext
Pune, Maharashtra: A Muslim student was brutally assaulted by a gang associated with the Hindutva Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) at Savitribai Phule University in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack was carried out under the pretext of so-called ‘love jihad,’ a term used by Hindu extremists to target and discriminate against Muslims.
Video footage of the assault shows the student being attacked while returning to his hostel. Former IPS officer Abdur Rahman has called on the police to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, condemning their vigilante actions and disregard for the law.
