Land sinking leaves 350 people homeless in IIOJK’s Ramban district
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, over 350 people abandoned their homes after destruction of their houses due to land subsidence in Ramban district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, 30 houses were completely destroyed, 20 partially damaged and 10 others developed huge cracks making them unfit for occupation in Pernote village uphill and downhill on the Ramban-Gool Road.
These families are now living under the open sky after taking their household goods and livestock out of the inhabitable residences.
Houses in Pernote started developing cracks and the road connectivity between Gool and Ramban snapped Thursday evening following the sudden sinking of land at Pernote village. Four electricity towers and a receiving station were also damaged.
It is pertinent to mention here that in February last year also, at least 16 houses were damaged and road connectivity between Gool and Ramban was snapped due to sinking of land at Duksar Dalwa village in Sangaldan area.
