Kashmir issue highlighted during EU parliament election campaign: Ali Raza

Brussels: Chairman of Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed, has said that the organization has tried to highlight the issue of Kashmir, especially the human rights of the oppressed Kashmiris, during the recent election campaign of the European Parliament.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels said that during the election campaign, they had meetings with leaders of various political parties, important European personalities, and candidates participating in the elections, and informed them about the background of the Kashmir issue and the current situation in occupied Kashmir.

Syed said that they have told various European circles and expected members of the European Parliament that the Kashmir problem is a globally recognized issue pending for over seven decades at the United Nations agenda. He added that the current situation in occupied Kashmir is dire, with India deploying around one million troops who are oppressing the people using black laws.

The Chairman of Kashmir Council EU expressed hope that the new European Parliament will understand the rights of Kashmiris and play a role in stopping the violation of their rights. He said that humanitarian circles in Europe do not ignore human rights issues, and they will highlight the rights of the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir to the newly elected European parliamentarians who have humanitarian sympathy.

Syed demanded that Kashmiris should get their rights, injustices should end, and a plebiscite should be conducted in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations under international supervision, so that Kashmiris can live a peaceful and prosperous life by deciding their own political future in a free atmosphere.
