‘Free Kashmir’ graffiti sparks heated debate on social media in India

New Delhi: A graffiti reading “Free Kashmir” was discovered on a park wall in India’s capital New Delhi today, sparking a heated debate on social media among residents in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the graffiti, which supports the rights of Kashmiri people, was discovered by local residents during a morning walk. Photos shared on social media have generated a strong debate, with some praising the message and others opposing it due to Hindutva ideology.

This incident is not the first of its kind, with similar graffiti appearing in other cities like Bengaluru and Shivajinagar, sparking similar debates.

Delhi Police has registered a case against unknown persons. “An FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Defacement of Property Act has been registered at Dwarka North police station, ” said a senior police official.

“A police team tasked with cracking the case is scanning CCTV cameras in the area to identify the culprits and trace them, ” the official added.
