Opposition stages protest in parliament against ED, CBI misuse
New Delhi: Opposition lawmakers staged a protest on the Parliament premises on Monday, expressing concerns over Modi government’s use of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against opponents.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest, attended by leaders from various opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, and Sanjay Singh, among others, aimed to highlight the perceived misuse of these agencies to target political opponents.
The opposition parties have been critical of the government’s handling of various cases, including the arrests of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, and TMC Ministers by ED and CBI.
The protest comes as both Houses of Parliament are set to meet after a two-day break, with discussions expected on various issues, including the NEET row and new criminal laws.
The opposition leaders carried placards and posters expressing their concerns and calling for an end to the alleged misuse of central agencies. The protest was peaceful, and the leaders later attended the parliamentary proceedings.
