Hurriyat leaders pay homage to July 13, 1931 martyrs

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have paid tributes to the July 13, 1931 martyrs, saying their sacred blood ignited the candle of freedom in Jammu and Kashmir against the tyranny of Dogra rulers.

According to Kashmir Media Service, on July 13, 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had shot dead 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.

Hurriyat leaders, including including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Yasmeen Raja, Ms Hafsa Bano, Farida Bahenji, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Mohammad Aqib and Abdur Rasheed, in their statements issued in Srinagar said that the martyrs of July 13, 1931 laid the foundation of Kashmir’s freedom from the oppression. They said, since then, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris have laid down their lives for this sacred cause of liberation of their motherland.

They emphasized that the best way to pay homage to these martyrs is to collectively fight against injustice, hegemony, and forcible occupation. They said the Kashmiri people will not allow the blood of their martyrs to go in vain and will accomplish their mission at all costs. They also called upon Imams and Khateebs to collectively honour all martyrs on Saturday, July 13, and remind the people of their duty to protect their faith and identity from Hindutva onslaught.

The Hurriyat leaders expressed confidence that the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir will ultimately bear fruit, highlighting their resilience and determination in pursuit of justice and freedom.
