JIH opposes Waqf amendment bill, calls it ‘Unacceptable’ to Muslims
New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it “unacceptable” to the Muslim community.
Accoridng to Kashmir Media Service, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini said the bill aims to diminish the autonomy and integrity of Waqf properties and communities.
The bill introduces a form of “Collector Raj”, granting collectors unprecedented authority over Waqf properties, undermining the Waqf Tribunal’s decisiveness and removing the concept of waqf by user. JIH alleged that the bill was drafted without meaningful consultation with stakeholders.
JIH hoped that opposition parties and NDA allies like JDU and TDP will oppose the bill, which they believe is detrimental to the Muslim community. They threatened to approach the Supreme Court if necessary, arguing that the amendments violate constitutional provisions and natural justice.
