JIH condemns demolition of mosque, dargah & graveyard in Gujarat’s Garsumnath district

New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has strongly condemned the demolition of a mosque, a dargah and a 500 years old graveyard in Garsumnath district of Gujarat state.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Naib-Amir Malik Mutasim Khan in a statement in New Delhi expressed deep concern over the demolition of a mosque, a dargah and a 500-year-old graveyard near the Somnath temple in the district on Saturday by the authorities.

He termed this action of the authorities concerned as an open violation of the orders of the Indian Supreme Court and an insult to the judiciary, the sole purpose of which is to hurt the sentiments of Muslims.

The condition of taking prior permission from the court was imposed before any such action, but the local administration has demolished the religious places of Muslims ignoring the orders of the Supreme Court.

Malik Mutasim Khan added that in India, the issue of demolition of religious and historical buildings, especially the buildings of religious minorities and Muslims, without regard to the law, has become a very sensitive and alarming situation.
