Tensions escalate in Manipur as curfew imposed in multiple districts
Imphal: Several districts of Indian state of Manipur are experiencing a lockdown as authorities reimpose curfew in response to escalating tension.
The Kashmir Media Service reported that media stated that the Imphal Valley has been under curfew for several days, with Indian forces maintaining a tight security cordon around the area.
The situation intensified following clashes between students and Indian security forces. As a result, two major districts predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community have been completely sealed off, with stricter curfew measures being implemented.
The Kuki organization has announced an indefinite protest against the government and Indian forces across the entire state, starting from Friday. This development has led to the closure of educational institutions in two districts of Manipur.
Prior to these events, the region witnessed severe confrontations between Indian forces and separatist groups. The separatists reportedly employed rockets and drone technology in their attacks on the valley.
