BJP responsible for worsening situation in IIOJK: Agha Ruhullah
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a senior National Conference leader and member of the Indian Parliament, Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has attributed the deteriorating security situation in the territory to the policies of the BJP-led Indian government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Ruhullah Mehdi expressed deep sorrow over a recent attack on non-Kashmiris in Mazhama, Budgam, and questioned the effectiveness of the Indian forces operating under the Modi administration, which has direct control over the territory.
He stated, “The BJP regime, responsible for security in [IIOJK], must be held accountable for these recurring failures.” Mehdi also raised concerns about a possible link between the surge in attacks and the recent elections in the territory, asking, “What explains the sudden increase in these incidents immediately following the elections?”
Meanwhile, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen in a statement in Srinagar demanded the restoration of statehood to IIOJK. He criticized the Union Territory Foundation Day celebration by New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, asserting that it contradicts the commitments made by Indian Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the restoration of statehood to IIOJK. He added the UT Foundation Day celebration has created doubts in the hearts and minds of the people over the fulfillment of the commitment of statehood restoration.
