President AJK urges Austria to play its role in resolving Kashmir dispute
Islamabad: President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, has urged Austria to play an active role in resolving the Kashmir issue and ending ongoing human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Barrister Sultan made these remarks during a meeting with the Austrian Ambassador, Andrea Wicke, at Kashmir House in Islamabad.
He emphasized that Austria has balanced relations with both Pakistan and India, along with an excellent human rights record. Given this, he called on Austria and other European Union nations to use their influence to secure the right of self-determination for the Kashmiris and exert pressure on India to grant the oppressed Kashmiri people their fundamental rights.
He further stated that human rights violations in IIOJK have reached alarming levels, urging the international community to take concrete steps towards resolving the Kashmir issue and halting the ongoing violations in the region.
Barrister Sultan also briefed Ambassador Andrea Wicke on the latest developments regarding the Kashmir issue and the current situation in IIOJK.
Discussions on other matters of mutual interest were also held during the meeting.
